CL Garrett Bio

Christopher Garrett is a Contemporary Folk Pop visual artist based in Springfield, Illinois. His work blends storytelling with character-driven pieces that capture moments of realization, transformation, and quiet insight. Drawing from both classic tales and self-made stories, his art often feels playful on the surface yet layered with deeper meaning.

Christopher uses vibrant color palettes, dynamic patterns, and exaggerated facial features to amplify emotion and narrative. Each piece is designed to feel alive, as if it holds its own personality, history, and voice. As a self-taught artist with over a decade of experience in illustration, painting, and woodworking, he has developed a distinct visual charm.

His work has been featured throughout Springfield in local art spaces and community events, including The Pharmacy Gallery, Anvil & Forge, Arlington’s, White Oaks Mall, and DIM Art.

Artist Statement

My work is driven by stories; those found in conversation, quiet moments of reflection, and the space between inspiration and hope. I am drawn to the feeling of standing at the edge of change, where something shifts internally and a new understanding begins to form. Through my art, I explore these moments of realization, transformation, and quiet insight, capturing characters at pivotal points in their journey. Each piece acts as a fragment of a larger narrative, inviting viewers to recognize something familiar within themselves or imagine the story unfolding beyond the frame.

Working with wood and paint, I create character-driven pieces that carry distinct personalities and emotional presence. I use bold colors, patterns, and expressive forms to amplify meaning and give each figure a sense of life and voice. My process is both intuitive and intentional, allowing the materials and imagery to guide the outcome while staying rooted in storytelling. Through these works, I aim to create visual markers of growth and possibility.
